Asylum seeker and refugee assistance trust
In 2012 we realised we held a concern for the plight of asylum seekers and refugees released into the community in Australia. It became apparent that the best way KHQ could help asylum seekers and refugees in Australia was to use our skills as commercial lawyers to establish a charitable trust fund which could receive tax deductible donations and rapidly use those funds to benefit asylum seekers and refugees in need while they are 'finding their feet' in what they hope will eventually be their new home. The result is our asylum seeker and refugee assistance trust, a charitable trust with deductible gift recipient status. During 2013, 2014 and 2015 the trust worked with community organisations and case workers active in the field to identify individual asylum seekers and refugees in need in Australia.
Directors David Kelly and David Krolikowski are the trustees. Members of the trust's advisory committee are volunteers. All costs of the trust are covered by KHQ Lawyers.
This means that 100% of donations will directly reach asylum seekers and refugees in need in the community.
