The Melbourne office of top tier boutique, KHQ Lawyers, has elevated two senior lawyers to the ranks of principal solicitor.
Kate Landells (Corporate & Commercial) and Michael Cochrane (Workplace Relations & Safety) have both been promoted, effective 1 July 2020. KHQ’s managing director, David Kelly, expressed his delight at the promotions. “Kate is a technically excellent lawyer, and plays a pivotal leadership role within our sizeable Corporate & Commercial team. She is as equally devoted to her craft as she is to her young family, and it’s a testament to her considerable talents that she has built such a successful career while being an active and engaged mum. We are delighted to recognise her achievements and welcome her to the ranks of principal”, he said.
Commenting on her promotion, Ms Landells said “I am excited to be joining the principal group at KHQ. I look forward to continuing to walk the path with our clients in my new role.”
“Michael came to us as a corporate/employment lawyer, and in his time with us has transitioned to a full time employment law expert, building his practice around being the key interface between the workplace and commercial teams as someone who speaks both languages so well. Michael’s promotion recognises his drive and hard work towards his goals and differentiating himself so effectively as an emerging leader”, said Mr Kelly.
Commenting on his promotion, Mr Cochrane said “I’m thrilled to be joining the principal group at KHQ. It’s a truly unique firm and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of my clients and colleagues as I share this exciting next chapter with them”.
In addition, Amelia Edwards (Corporate & Commercial) has been promoted from senior associate to special counsel. Said Mr Kelly “Amelia joined us as a graduate, and following rotations, settled in our commercial team. She has steadily built the firm’s focus on and reputation in the commercial space, and particularly the food & beverage arena. Her promotion is a recognition of her drive and persistence, and of how much she has achieved in a relatively short period of time.”
KHQ Lawyers has significantly expanded and deepened its service offering in recent months, with Mr Kelly hinting that there’s more to come. “Our firm goes continues to go from strength to strength thanks to our people’s dedication to excellence, and despite the difficult and unusual circumstances we are all experiencing,” he said. “There are big developments happening at KHQ, and we’ll be sharing more news about that shortly. In the meantime, our teams are working closely with our clients, understanding their unique challenges and delivering outcomes to meet their needs.”
