Eugenie Chung Senior Associate

Eugenie is a Senior Associate working across our Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Insolvency & Restructuring practice groups. She has over a decade of legal experience, mostly in commercial litigation, working in Australia, Hong Kong and New York.  

Eugenie has worked on a range of insolvency matters for external administrators, as well as complex commercial litigation. Relevant experience includes representing clients in State courts and tribunals, as well as the Federal courts. She has also worked on a wide range of contentious matters with cross border elements, and is experienced in advising clients on negotiation and settlement strategies. 

Eugenie’s experience includes:  

  • winding up proceedings and creditors’ petitions 
  • breach of director’s duties claims in liquidation scenarios 
  • unfair preference claims against creditors and former directors of insolvent companies, including in the construction industry 
  • debt recovery proceedings and enforcement of securities in various jurisdictions across Australia for banks, private lenders, schools, owners corporations, and other businesses 
  • advising administrators and company directors in voluntary administrations, including where  a deed of company arrangement is proposed or executed 
  • proceeds of crime disputes at state and federal levels, and 
  • other commercial disputes, including shareholders disputes, property and contractual disputes, tortious actions, and misleading and deceptive conduct claims.  

Eugenie holds degrees in Commerce and Law (Honours) and has completed Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA) Advanced Certification. She speaks Mandarin and Cantonese and is an advocate for diversity and inclusion, being an active member in Women in Insolvency and Restructuring Victoria (WIRV), Victorian Women Lawyers (VWL), and the Asian Australian Lawyers Association (AALA).
