Stephanie is a Special Counsel in our Superannuation & Financial Services team, and has more than 15 years’ in-house and private practice experience across a broad range of legal, governance and regulatory matters in Australia and the United Kingdom. Her main area of specialisation is litigation in the superannuation and financial services industry.
Stephanie joined KHQ Lawyers from Mercer, where she was Assistant General Counsel and led the Litigation team for the Pacific region. Stephanie’s extensive in-house experience means she is uniquely placed to understand all aspects of operating a superannuation fund and other financial services businesses, along with the commercial drivers of her clients’ businesses.
Stephanie’s experience includes:
- leading the legal stream of fee for no service remediation project involving ~8000 financial advice clients, redress payments of ~AUD$30m to its successful completion and managing investigations by regulators
- litigation and dispute resolution, including SCT and AFCA complaints and acting in proceedings brought in State and Federal Courts in relation to declined claims for disablement benefits and alleged defective or misleading fund disclosure
- advising superannuation fund trustee and other financial services businesses on all aspects of professional liability claims, and
- advising financial services institution in the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry.
In 2024 Stephanie completed the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
