Melbourne based travel technology business Rome2rio, an online multimodal transport search engine, has been acquired by Europe based Omio (formerly GoEuro). The deal closed on Thursday 31 October 2019.

Rome2rio was started by founders Michael Cameron and Bernie Tschirren.  The platform focuses on multimodal travel search and compares different modes of travel and routes. The strategic acquisition will combine Omio’s expertise in ticketing with Rome2rio’s search expertise.

Our corporate & commercial team advised Rome2rio during the sale process with assistance from Adventum Legal.  The KHQ team comprised Andrew Walker (Director), Kate Landells (Special Counsel), Koula Politis (Senior Associate) and Darrell Choong (Lawyer), together with Darren Sommers of Adventum Legal. The purchaser was represented by Corrs Chambers Westgarth.
