KHQ Lawyers’ senior promotions for 2023 include a Principal Solicitor, Special Counsel and two Senior Associates, together with the introduction of the role of “Associate”.

Rachael Hocking (Wills & Estates) will become a Principal Solicitor and Winning Wang (Family & Relationship Law) a Special Counsel, with both Jessica Spring and Melanie Davey (Corporate & Commercial) becoming Senior Associates.

Speaking about Ms Hocking’s promotion to Principal Solicitor, founder and Managing Director, David Kelly, said “Rachael’s elevation acknowledges her superb technical skills, her specialist expertise and her pivotal role as a leader in our – now quite large – Wills & Estates team. It’s an immense achievement and we couldn’t be happier for her”.

Director and head of the KHQ Family & Relationship Law team, Monica Blizzard, spoke of Ms Wang’s incredible work ethic, saying “Winning has made great strides in her professional career over the past year, in particular in working on complex family law matters. She continues to impress.”

Andrew Walker, Director and head of KHQ’s Corporate & Commercial team spoke of Ms Davey’s and Ms Spring’s fantastic contribution to the team and the firm. “This is well deserved recognition of Mel and Jess’ hard work over the year, and we all wish them well for the next phase of their careers”.

Additionally, for the first time the firm has introduced the role of Associate, in acknowledgement of the performance of up and coming lawyers across all practice areas who are on the progression path. “We understand there’s a long stretch between becoming a lawyer on admission and Senior Associate, particularly given the benchmark to become a Senior Associates is quite high”, Mr Kelly said. “KHQ is incredibly fortunate to have a deep well of talented, dedicated, client-focused professionals, who are all exceptional people and who make KHQ a great place to work. We want to recognise lawyers who are progressing well in their careers, and to give them a launching pad from which to achieve their potential”.

Those promoted to associate are:

  • Ailin Liu (Litigation & Dispute Resolution).
  • Andie Manolopoulos (Workplace Relations & Safety).
  • Courtney Goodlet (Family & Relationship Law).
  • Melanie Flower (Corporate & Commercial).
  • Nikita Dang (Workplace Relations & Safety).
  • Nikolce Petrovski (Commercial Property & Development).
  • Ryan Doherty (Corporate & Commercial).

“Cultivating talent and giving our people the guidance and support to develop both personally and professionally is a central tenet of our culture. Nothing is more rewarding or satisfying for the KHQ directors than seeing our people grow, move up and take that next step. We are proud to be a part of that journey.”

All promotions are effective from 1 July 2023.
