David is KHQ Lawyers’ founder and managing director. He holds degrees in law and science (with honours) and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
David practised as a lawyer in top tier firms in Perth and Melbourne between 1996 and 2002 before moving in-house to Toyota Australia. Spying a gap in the legal services market, he then launched KHQ in 2006 with the vision of a new type of law firm – ‘boutique top-tier’, a firm with top tier talent, clients, and expertise underpinned by the best characteristics of a boutique firm (namely, nimble, efficient, friendly, and cost effective). From those humble beginnings in 2006, today KHQ is a thriving, full service commercial firm with 90+ people working across 15 practice areas, and with an enviable reputation for innovative, high quality service delivery.
As managing director, David is the public face of the firm, and is responsible for driving the firm’s development and growth strategies, overseeing the firm’s culture, and (in concert with our practice group leaders) mentoring lawyers through all stages of their careers with KHQ. He is a passionate advocate for change in the legal industry, particularly in relation to how legal services are delivered and how lawyers are supported and developed in their careers.
