Michael is an Associate in our Litigation & Dispute Resolution team and is dual-qualified in Australia and South Africa. With over 16 years’ experience as a commercial litigation and dispute resolution lawyer, he represents national and international commercial entities and SMEs, as well as individuals.
A significant portion of Michael’s practice involves wide-ranging and complex commercial and civil litigation and dispute resolution. He handles disputes related to the Australian Consumer Law, Franchising Code, misleading and deceptive conduct, breaches of Directors’ duties, and contractual, defamation, tort, and administrative law disputes.
Previously based in South Africa, Michael worked at prominent firms where he advised clients on enforcement and compliance, commercial (white-collar) crime, social media, and construction law disputes. He played a role in several reported decisions in the High Court of South Africa.
As a solution-oriented practitioner and skilled negotiator, Michael guides clients and seeks to achieve favourable settlements at various stages of a dispute, wherever possible. If litigation is required, Michael has a wealth of experience in court proceedings, and takes a pragmatic approach, keeping in mind the client’s commercial objectives.
